  • Shakhrisabz, a historic city in Uzbekistan, makes for an enriching day trip from Samarkand, offering a deep dive into the region's rich cultural and architectural heritage. Getting There By Car: The drive from Samarkand to Shakhrisabz takes about 2 to 2.5 hours, covering approximately 90 kilometers. The mountain pass between Samarkand and Shakhrisabz, specifically the Takhta-Karacha Pass, offers breathtaking views and adds an adventurous element to your journey.
  • The Palace Complex of Ak-Saray: The palece of Amir Temur Ak Saray Palace (White Palace). The dimensions of the building can be perceived when looking at the gate towers: the two towers were 50 m high and had an arch with a span of 22 m. The buildings were destroyed in the 16th cent. by order of the ruler of Bukhara, Abdullah Khan.
  • Kok-Gumbaz Mosque: This heavily renovated, large Friday mosque was completed by Ulugbek in 1434 in honour of his father Shah Rukh
