- TopkapI Palace: The Topkapı Palace in Istanbul was the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire from 1465 to 1853. The construction of the palace was ordered by Sultan Mehmed II in 1459 and completed in 1465.
- Hippodrome: Later, in the mid-18th century onwards it was abandoned and destroyed. Today, the area is known as Sultanahmet Square and follows the plan and dimensions of the hippodrome.
