- Ortahisar: The Sema ceremony represents a mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through love, finding the truth and reaching "Perfect". Then he returns from this spiritual journey as a man who has reached maturity and perfection to love and serve all creatures regardless of faith, class or race. With the Cappadocia Whirling Dervish Hat (the tombstone of his ego) and his white skirt (the cover of his ego), the dervish is spiritually born into the truth. When he takes off his black cloak, he travels and progresses from the heavens to spiritual maturity. Keeping his arms crossed at the beginning and at every stage of the Sema, he represents the number one and bears witness to the oneness of Allah.
